Students have designs on Leigh Centurions to raise money for Charity
On Sunday 6 March 2016, Year 9 students helped to raise money for the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity as part of a New Skills project that they have been involved with for the past 16 weeks. The project aims to increase the employability of over 250, 13 – 19 year old residents within the Borough of Leigh by providing better access to opportunities to improve their level of qualifications and life skills. The students involved in the project are:
Jack Berry, Jack Thomas, Dylan Jackson, John Rigby, Jake Moore, Brandon Hupton and Callum Aldred.
As part of the project, the students have been undertaking an ASDAN Enterprise Qualification in which they had to design and implement an enterprise event. The students chose to organise and host a charity event at the Leigh Centurions v Sheffield Eagles Match which took place on Sunday 6 March 2016. Their idea was to plan how they could raise funds for the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity before and on match day. The students chose The Rainbow Trust Charity because it helps to raise funds to care for families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness.
Callum Aldred said “It’s a charity that is close to me personally and to a lot of people in the local community. It would be great to see the people of Leigh get behind this great cause and help support the team”.
