The impact of our careers programme on our students

At The Westleigh School, we believe it is very important to assess the impact of our careers programme for our students.

We work closely with Wigan Authority to determine the destination data of our students and strive to exceed the local data.  The most recent data we have is for the 2021 Year 11 Leavers.  This section will be further updated on receipt of the 2022 Year 11 Leavers

2021 Year 11 Leavers

  • Participation rates are higher than the Wigan average
  • More young people gained an apprenticeship
  • 50% of students are studying a Level 3 course
  • 23% of students are studying a Level 2 course
  • 17% of students are studying a Level 1 course
  • 10% of students are on other courses followed in full-time education

Destinations of Year 11 Leavers

  • 83.5% of students are studying in Wigan
  • 6.8% of students are studying in Bolton
  • 4.5% of students are studying in Salford
  • 1.1% of students are studying in Warrington
  • 1.2% of students are studying in other Greater Manchester establishments
  • 0.6% of students are studying in Lancashire
  • 2.2% of students are studying in Out of Area Establishments

Student Survey Results

In the recent Student Survey (Summer 2022), 93.1% of students said the school provided them with information about their next steps.  We aim to improve this.

 

CompassPlus Review

At our most recent CompassPlus review (Summer 2022), we reviewed our performance against the Gatsby Benchmarks.  Gatsby Benchmark 6 was difficult to achieve due to cancelled arrangements as a result of the Covid Pandemic.
