The Year 7 Westleigh Edge programme helps students explore their interests, strengths, and future ambitions through the Unifrog platform. Students research careers, universities, and subject pathways while completing activities such as career investigations, skills profiling, goal setting, and personal reflections. The programme encourages self-awareness and aspiration, culminating in an entrepreneurship project where students design and pitch a business idea, developing teamwork, creativity, and leadership skills before celebrating their achievements and progress at the end of the year.

The Year 8 programme builds on previous learning by helping students identify, develop, and showcase their personal strengths. Through career research, skills assessments, industry exploration, leadership activities, and teacher career interviews, students gain a deeper understanding of the skills and qualities needed for future success. A focus on employability, CV building, virtual work experience, and goal setting helps students develop clear aspirations and prepare for future educational and career pathways.

Year 9 – Making Informed Choices

The Year 9 programme supports students in making informed decisions about GCSE options and future career pathways. Using Unifrog, students explore subject choices, career sectors, labour market information, and higher education routes while developing practical life skills through activities such as budgeting, communication workshops, and guest speaker sessions. Students also refine their CVs, practise interview skills, set goals, and reflect on their strengths, helping them make confident choices as they transition into Key Stage 4.

The Year 10 programme focuses on preparing students for post-16 education and the world of work. Students use Unifrog to research colleges, sixth forms, apprenticeships, and labour market trends while developing employability skills through mock interviews, cover letter writing, personal statements, and application workshops. Work experience planning, employer engagement, leadership activities, and regular skills audits encourage students to actively plan their future pathways and build confidence in their next steps.

Year 11 – What’s Next?

The Year 11 programme helps students secure their post-16 destinations and successfully transition beyond school. Through Unifrog, students research and apply for colleges, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities while completing personality assessments, mock interviews, personal statements, and budgeting activities. Alongside a strong focus on wellbeing, workplace readiness, and personalised guidance, students finalise CVs, track applications, and create career passports, culminating in a celebration of achievements as they confirm their next steps.
