Year 8 Rewards Assembly

Year 8 concluded the term with their rewards assembly, where they were honoured to have Petero Benjamin "Ben" Nakubuwai, a Fiji international rugby league footballer who plays as a prop for the Leigh Leopards in the Betfred Super League, join them. Nakubuwai graciously presented certificates to our deserving award winners, adding a special touch to the occasion.

Petero Benjamin "Ben" Nakubuwai was born on March 15, 1996, and has had an illustrious career in rugby league. He previously played for the Gold Coast Titans in the National Rugby League and the Salford Red Devils in the Super League. Nakubuwai was also a proud member of Fiji's squad for the 2017 World Cup.

Nakubuwai's roots trace back to Leeton, New South Wales, Australia, where he was born to Fijian parents, Pio and Eseta. His father, a dual-code rugby international for Fiji during the 1990s, is celebrated as one of the pioneers of rugby league in Fiji.

In his early years, Nakubuwai showcased his sporting talents by excelling in both rugby union and rugby league. He began playing rugby union at the age of eight for the Leeton Phantoms before transitioning to rugby league at fourteen, where he played for the Yanco-Wamoon Hawks and Bidgee Hurricanes at a junior level. His exceptional skills caught the attention of the Melbourne Storm, leading him to move to Melbourne after completing his Higher School Certificate to play in their S. G. Ball Cup team.
